Former Minister of Information and presidential aspirant, Professor Jerry Gana, has asked Nigerians to demand from the former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida, why the June 12, 1993, election was annulled. Both Gana and Babangida are contesting the presidency from the same state and political party.
Professor Gana who was in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital recently to consult the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris on his presidential ambition, told newsmen in an interactive session that the day of reckoning is approaching for the former military president.
Gana, who was responding to a question on how democratic and progressive he is, having served in the military government, went down memory lane to highlight his activities in all the governments he served, stressing that as MAMSER boss during Babangida regime, he was able to mobilize Nigerians for the election widely described as the freest and fairest in the history of the nation.
He noted that what the mobilization agency did at that period resulted in the success of the 1993 elections but regretted that the election was annulled and expressed optimism that Nigerians will ask IBB on why that election was annulled.
The former MAMSER boss stated that, having served both in the military and civilian governments, he possessed the requisite to control the affairs of the nation.
Professor Gana, who described the crisis bedeviling the PDP as a normal occurrence stated that his candidature would reinvigorate the party, adding that the reconciliation team set up by the party leadership is achieving tremendous success and disclosed that two governors.
When asked what he would do if he fail to clinch the party ticket, Gana stated that as a faithful party member, he would abide by the principle of the party.
